Best car I owned
By Jim | on Sunday, November 24, 2019
The car is 2011 535i model (10,300 miles) that was purchased 8 years ago. There was one issues (shaft seal noise from engine bay) around 8,440 miles, and it was fixed under warranty. Since then, there are no any issues so far, and it is very reliable, and the engine is powerful. The maintenance includes: oil change every 8000 miles, Brake fluid flush every 2 years (preventive maintenance), 4 new Bridgestone Onguard tires ($997 total) change @ 61,200 miles, spark plugs change ($299) @70,000 (preventive maintenance)… - 5.0
Great Cruiser!
By 2nd Bmw | on Wednesday, June 29, 2016
This car is wonderful. You have to spend more than a few miles in it and it will grow on you instantly. Huge backseat and storage, luxury and comfort for the driver and passenger, perfect for a car seat and road trip, or put the back seats down and use it for utility (just get the rubber trunk mat!) I'm reconfiguring the backseat as a mobile office with laptop tray and great for Real Estate showings and just overall chauffeuring that is pleasant for both driver and passengers. It is a little button heavy with technology but you will get used to it really quick (what newer cars are not these days?)Don't let visual reviews fool you. This is beauty in the eye of the beholder, and from the inside looking out, not from the outside looking in.… - 4.0
Good car for the money
By car guy | on Thursday, April 30, 2020
I have a 550i GT. I bought this vehicle about a year a go. Its a pretty heavy car so it needs a powerful engine. The one I have is a twin turbo V8 making around 400hp and 450 torque, Definitely not a slow car Maintenance/Problems The n63 engines are not good. I personally never had any problems but I know they are known for blowing up and having failures. I think if you are interested in this car you have the make sure the engine is still good. Other than the engine every thing is works and very good for the money. You can get a 400hp car under 15k is kind of a steal but you just need to make sure the car runs well and was taken care of. This car does eat a lot of oil because of the turbos. Usually I refill them around 2 quarts before the engine needs to be changed. For gas I would go with premium gas because if you cheap gas you get worse mpg so it does even out. Another thing is that the battery are usually low if you don't daily drive them all the time. This is probably becasue the car is always on so it does drain the battery Weird features Bmw added a recharging device so every time you let off the gas it will use the engines power to charge up the battery. So going from 1st to 2nd gear does some time get a little jerky, especially if you are coasting. Also there is no oil dip stick. You have to measure it from the vehicle info. Interior good, comfortable, heated seats. The gauge cluster is very nice, the steering wheel does feel a bit thin but it just might be mine. Middle cup holders are a little weird but good and I really love the split opening of the armrest. The moon roof is nice and open. Infotainment system is well and easy to navigate. In the drivers seat you can control the privacy shades in the back. In the back seat you have good amount of room for the legs and head (I'm 5'10) and also has heated seats.…
